Industrial Site Development HYATT AVENUE, NEWARK, NEW JERSEY

The Hyatt Avenue project in Newark, NJ is a large-scale site development for a future 350,000 SF industrial building. Pillari demolished the existing concrete on site, then processed it and reused it as fill. This kept the material on the property and out of the landfill.

Mass earthwork and grading was the core of the job. Pillari processed and hauled more than 300,000 CY of recycled concrete to level the site and build the pad. Working with several other contractors, Pillari helped install three ground improvement systems: Deep Soil Mixing, Rigid Inclusions and Dynamic Compaction. Several thousand square feet of retaining wall were also built. Together, this work created firm, stable ground for the building to come.

The project also called for extensive underground utilities and drainage. Pillari’s pipe crews installed four large ADS stormwater detention systems, totaling 7,600 LF of 60″ HDPE pipe. They added outlet control structures, six precast Hydro Up-Flow water quality units, and thousands of feet of additional storm pipe and structures. Along Hyatt Avenue, crews ran 1,700 LF of sanitary sewer and water main to serve the future building.
